Evra Transdermal Patch is a patch type birth control which is indeed designed to prevent pregnancy by delivering two types of sex hormones. Ethinylestradiol is a synthetic estrogen, which is commonly used in various hormonal contraceptives. Estrogen plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle and suppressing the release of luteinizing hormone (LH). Norelgestromin is a synthetic progestin, which is a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone. Progestins are known to have various effects, including thickening of cervical mucus and alterations to the endometrial lining. The combined actions of ethinylestradiol and norelgestromin in the Evra patch help to prevent pregnancy through multiple mechanisms. The primary mechanism of action is the suppression of ovulation, which means that it prevents the release of an egg from the ovaries. The patch also alters the cervical mucus, making it thicker and less permeable to sperm. This makes it more difficult for sperm to penetrate the cervix and reach the egg. Changes in the endometrial lining may reduce the likelihood of implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus. HOW TO USE

Direction for use: It is very important that you use this medication exactly as directed by your Pharmacist or Doctor only.
Evra Transdermal Patch should be applied once a week for 3 weeks or 21 days and stop for 1 week. Your menses should begin during the 7-day patch free period. Change the patch once a week on the same day. Even if your menses is still ongoing, subsequent pack is to be started after the 7-day patch free period has elapsed if prescribed by your Doctor.
Always put your patch on clean, dry, and hairless skin. Put it on the buttock, abdomen, upper outer arm, or upper back. Put it on places where it won’t be rubbed by tight clothing.
WARNINGS & CAUTIONS: Caution has also been advised for people who smoke, ever had blood clots, post-menopausal women, heart attack, stroke, clotting disorders, heart valve issues, liver, kidney and adrenal disease, breast cancer, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Like all medicines, this medicine may cause common side effects, although not everybody gets them generally. You may suffer from nausea and vomiting, bloating and abdominal cramps, breast tenderness, headache or migraine, intolerance to contact lenses, weight changes, mood swings, and skin itching or skin irritation.
Speak to your Doctor immediately if you experience serious side effects especially leg cramps and swelling due to blood clots, severe stomach pain, sharp chest pain, rapid breathing, blurring of vision, numbness of face, blue discoloration of extremities or symptoms not listed here.
If you miss two periods in a row, call your doctor for a pregnancy test before you use any more patches.
